This is a test post for my blog.
This is another paragraph.
Headphones are more than just a piece of technology that allows me to listen to my music privately.
Headphones allow me to tune out the world, just for a moment.
An escape from the swirling, changing landscape into a song or voice that remains the same,
no matter how often I listen to it. The noise can vanish. Maybe it's the noise of parents arguing,
or sirens screeching, or the sound of my own thoughts.
For a few, precious minutes, headphones are my portal into a different world.
They also represent my ability to separate myself.
Because I live so far away from the major destruction and problems of the world,
when it all becomes too much, I have the privilege of stepping back and turning it off for a
while. I can turn off the news on the TV,
and retreat into the quiet of my perfectly curated world because I don't live in the news,
I am simply a passive observer.
